Raising Funds Through eBay
Looking for a way to clean up your clutter and donate to a good cause all at once? Consider using the eBay fundraising campaign. If you're unfamiliar with eBay, it's a worldwide online auction site. Many countries have their own listing of items, or items can be listed for international sale and delivery. Through a special site feature of the site, you can donate all or part of the proceeds from items you sell to the charity of your choice. Charitable groups can also have sites where they and their volunteers list and auction off goods and supplies.
How the EBay Fundraising Campaign Works
This fundraising opportunity is called the ‘eBay Giving Works' project. It is done in conjunction with a non-profit organization called ‘Mission Fish', which works to help charities raise funds. Your auction looks and functions just like any other auction listing on the site, with one exception. A small blue and yellow ribbon logo appears in the description, indicating part or all of the proceeds from the sale will be donated to charity.
Mission Fish has connections to a wide variety of charities that you can donate to. If you don't see your favorite charity on the list, you can contact Mission Fish and ask for help. They will approach the charity and ask if they wish to join in this fundraising campaign. Odds are, they will agree, since it can only help them raise more donations. Just like with any other charitable donation, you can receive a receipt for you donation for recordkeeping or tax purposes.
The normal listing fees apply, even when you plan to donate the entire proceeds of a sale to charity. In addition, a small part of the donation goes to Mission Fish to cover their operating costs and help them continue to run the fundraising campaign.
The Giving Works project is a great way for you to donate to your favorite charity or charities. It is simple to do and may even make bidders donate more, knowing they are helping a good cause. The donated money can help disadvantaged people, fund life-saving research, and otherwise do a world of good. The program is simple to sign up for, and the benefits are enormous.
